A sheet of thin birch is adhered to a frame, or "cradle". The cradles come in different depths, typically Abby uses 3/4" deep. The birch wood is sanded very smooth and primed with gesso making it an archival support for painting.

How long do commissions take? It depends on the size and the amount of detail. It is best to give Abby as much time as possible to work on commissions. For example, an 11" x 14" painting may take 1-3 months, and that may not include drying time or framing and shipping. Much more information on commissions here.
What do commissions cost? They typically cost a bit more than "regular" paintings because much more time and effort is put into them to make sure they are perfect and the client is thrilled. Each quote is different and depends on the size and the amount of detail involved, the deadline as well as the cost of materials. Much more information on commissions here.
What is a metal print? Some of Abby's most popular images are available as metal prints. Metal prints are an absolutely gorgeous alternative to the traditional matted print under glass. The image is printed upon an aluminum sheet and the quality is exceptional - high detail and satiny-smooth. The frames are very high quality and substantial- their weight is hefty making the overall presentation quite impressive. Their size is more compact, making them perfect for gift-giving. Abby has partnered with a company in California who makes these amazing metal prints. Group several of them together for a cool gallery display. You will not be disappointed! You can see them here.
Does Abby make traditional paper prints? No, but she makes very cool metal prints and also beautiful, framed canvas prints.
Why should I give Abby my email address, or create an account on this site? Abby never shares your email or other personal information. You may see a pop-up while browsing the site asking for your email address. This is so Abby can periodically stay in touch about shows, new paintings or other news. You will never be bombarded with emails. Creating an account on this site merely allows the site to safely keep some of your information (like address, phone number, email) to save for the next time you make a purchase here. This makes checkout easier and faster.
What happened to Abby's line of products and gifts? COVID-19 drastically affected the ability to manufacture amazing products with Abby's art on them. The company she partnered with in India made hand-stitched and dyed silk scarves, men's pocket squares and ties, linen napkins, clutches, journals and so much more- all with her twilight blue paintings on them. The supply chain was halted, but perhaps in the future Abby will be able to offer these great products again.
